Theresa Coney appointed as Hearing Officer of Bar Overseers for the SJC

Psi Omega member Theresa Coney has been appointed as a Hearing Officer for the Board of Bar Overseers for the Supreme Judicial Court.

Coney, who was recently selected as the first and only Racial Equity Trainer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Public Defender's Office, serves on the Committee for Public Counsel Services.

In this role she helps provide legal representation to 285,000 clients annually in criminal, deliquency, children and family law, and mental health cases.

She is responsible for the training of 700 employees, including 425 staff lawyers, and thousands of private lawyers on racial equity and addressing racism in the justice system.

Coney's term as Hearing Officer will last for three years.
